The production process of steel strip reinforced steel-plastic composite pipe is complex. Steel strip is different from aluminium strip, it has almost no flexibility, so the forming process of steel strip is very demanding. Secondly, steel strip is usually thicker than aluminium strip. It can not be welded by lap welding, but by butt welding with high precision. Finally, even if the steel strip is processed into fully qualified steel pipe, what kind of technology can be used to make the steel strip and PE perfectly combined, which becomes another difficult problem in the manufacture of steel-plastic composite pipe. In 2003, the Ministry of National Construction promulgated CJ/T183-2003 Steel-Plastic Composite Pressure Pipe Standard (revised to CJ/T183-2008 standard again in 2008).


Despite its incomparable advantages compared with other pipes, the complexity of its production process and the requirement of high-end technology make many pipe manufacturers hesitate.
